Nadia + Dan
What makes you an On the Go Bride?
I had decided just before Dan and I got engaged in December 2013 to go back to school in January 2014. I already had a full time job but really wanted to make a career change. Trying to juggle work, school and planning a wedding was a big challenge for both of us.
What did you find most challenging about planning your wedding as an On the Go Bride?
It was very difficult to find the time to get together with the organizer of our venue, our vendors and our wedding party to make decisions and organize any important details. Everyone is busy and has a schedule to keep. Dan and I were no different, but this was our wedding so we had to work hard to reschedule our lives to try to make meetings work. It was disruptive, but together we made it work and always tried to make the best of every moment. We’re grateful our friends made time to help us, and both the venue and vendors were great to work with.
What made the wedding planning process easier or helped save you time?
Our family and friends were a great support during the process. They were there when we needed them and were more than happy to assist us. We eventually learned to just ask for help and not try to take it all on ourselves.
What advice would you give to bride’s trying to plan their weddings while working?
Make a schedule, book some days off work if you can for wedding appointments, and take days off planning! Don’t let yourself burn out. The process is work but it’s also meant to be fun and exciting. This is the most important day of your life, enjoy every minute leading up to the big day because that day goes by in a blink of an eye.
What special things or moments between you and your husband did you include in your wedding?
We shared the traditional special moments of any wedding like our first dance, cutting the wedding cake, the bouquet toss, and speeches about family and friends. But I think for us we really wanted some moments to be our own. Of course we want to share everything with your friends and family, but some of it had to be just for us.
What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
My favorite memory was seeing Dan when I started to walk down the aisle. I was so nervous and overwhelmed so I focused on him. Nothing else mattered, and I couldn’t wait to get to him. It was the most amazing moment and something I’ll never forget.
