If you can incorporate a shared interest into your engagement session, do it!
Take a few ques from this darling couple starting their day at the local gastropub (Which, by the way, rocks). And if you can, follow through with an epic sunset at the nearest beach. I mean, I would totally drive for 2 hours just to end the evening in the seaside breeze. These two did, and it is so romantic!

A few juicy details from our bride-to-be, Sarah… “Dustin and I met almost 8 years ago at both of our first jobs in San Diego. As soon as we met we hit it off as great friends and were inseparable. We pretty much spend all week working together and all weekend hanging out. We had a close group of friends that we spend most of our free time with. Our friends and family used to bug us and joke with us all the time asking why we weren’t dating and when we were going to admit that we loved each other. About 3 and 1/2 years after we met we finally admitted to each other we were much more than the “just good friends” we claimed to be and started our relationship. We have been together over 4 years now.”
“Dustin proposed in August 2014 when he flew to my home in Syracuse. We were set to spend the weekend in Lake Placid, which is a very special vacation spot and near and dear to my family. That particular year they were giving an award out to honor my father, who passed away almost 10 years ago. Dustin knew it would be a really special and meaningful weekend so he decided to do it then. Ironically my brother and Dustin had both been planning proposals at the same time.”
“My brother had just gotten engaged the week prior, and I was so elated for him and his new finance and wrapped up in their engagement I had no idea that it was coming. Just when I thought the week couldn’t get any better Dustin popped the question! He proposed right when he landed and it was one of the best moments of my life. We laugh now because I almost ruined it I was so unsuspecting at the time. It was very us, it was perfect, and we got to spend the next four days surrounded by family.”
“When we came back to San Diego my brother and his new fiance flew back with us to spend a week in CA. It was such a whirlwind and one of the best weeks of our lives. We enjoy being outdoors, playing beach volleyball, paddle boarding, going out to eat, traveling, going on adventures, spending time with family and friends.”
