Sierra Lake Tahoe Wedding

Krisstin & Pete

If rain on your wedding day is a good omen, this couple has a lifetime of happiness to look forward to. Aside from said rain that luckily let up right as they were getting ready to walk down the aisle, Krisstin and Pete's gorgeous Lake Tahoe wedding couldn't be more perfect.

With Krisstin's fond memories of family vacations at the lake, the Lake Tahoe Golf Course and it's majestic mountains provided the perfect backdrop for this outdoorsy couple's big day. Krisstin said, "To this day, the view of the lake takes my breath away, and I knew I wanted my wedding there. Pete loved the Sierra’s being the backdrop of our ceremony location and liked being right up against the mountains with all the gorgeous trees."

Their day was full of personal, intimate details, from their love of wine tasting to Pete's love of his alma mater, Michigan State. Gorgeous wine-themed centerpieces (with real grapes!) adorned each table, and vibrant burnt orange rose bouquets were a bright pop of color against the bridesmaid's deep purple and burgandy dresses. Guests were treated to a  wine tasting during the cocktail hour with bottles Krisstin brought back from her bachelorette party in Napa. And Krisstin surprised Pete with a groom's cake bearing the Michigan State logo, which was carried out by his groomsmen singing the school's fight song.

Krisstin and Pete weren't afraid to buck tradition a bit in order to get the wedding they wanted. Krisstin featured her brother on her side, and Pete had his best friend Lisa standing up for him. The couple also had a close friend perform their ceremony. "We liked the idea of using him because he could tailor the ceremony to what we wanted, and when we look back at our ceremony pictures we have a good friend in the pictures with us," Krisstin said. Even the rain that drenched the grounds contributed to a happy memory. "The rain left the ground soaking wet," Krisstin said. "So when I walked down the aisle, the bottom of my dress got soaked. I later found out that my dark purple dyed shoes bled all over the bottom of my dress. Luckily it was underneath and no one could see it. However, my dress will forever be stained purple. A good memory to have."
